Inspired by my winter walks at the forest preserve, I often see and hear the woodpeckers lurking behind tree branches and flying from one tree to the next. I have a soft spot for woodpeckers, and with this painting I aimed to recreate a peaceful winter scene where these woodpeckers are portrayed in different poses.
